How it is built

  • A minor scale with a flat 2nd: E♭ instead of E. Seven notes.
  • The half step from D down to E♭ is the whole flavor: dark in metal, Spanish in flamenco. Hammer between the two and you have the cliché in one move.
  • Same notes as B♭ major, started from its third degree.
